Bad news, good news: Gunner can’t make it, but we have Heather!

Unfortunately, due to urgent personal reasons, keynote speaker, Allen ‘Gunner’ Gunn will not be able to come to Connecting Up 2011 and he sends his regrets to you all. Those of you who met him at CU09 know that his character and passion for the nonprofit sector will be missed. With no Gunner, we were determined to find an alternative international speaker who could provide real value and a fresh insight into the CU11 theme of “Reboot your Nonprofit”. We’ve thought outside of the box a little, and at short notice, we have been able to engage Canadian speaker, comedian and conversationalist, Heather Gold.

Introducing Heather Gold

Heather’s expertise in the art of authentic conversation and communication will be fantastic to see as she teaches us how to engage people both socially and emotionally.

Her speaking style is less about presenting and more about bringing the room to a more intimate conversation about

whatever topic is being discussed. She does away with the traditional powerpoint and replaces it with an authentic, engaging experience that you can’t help but listen to and be a part of.

Many nonprofits face the daily challenge of better connecting with our supporters, our volunteers, our staff and our wider community. Although technology can open up new and exciting channels for this to happen, we still need to know how to communicate through them.

This is where Heather’s unique take on the ability to build community through conversation will bridge the gap between having the right technology and using it effectively as a communications tool.

We are excited to have Heather join the Connecting Up 2011 keynote speakers. We are confident that she will bring real value and rich insights into how nonprofit organisations can use technology to make better connections with people.
