On DADS Australia and DonorTec
One of Connecting Up's projects is the DonorTec technology donations programme. The programme is available to different qualified nonprofit organisations in Australia (we also run TechSoup New Zealand, which does the same thing). Through DonorTec, we hear all sorts of amazing stories on how technology products are making a difference in the nonprofit sector.
One such story that we came across recently is through a case study with Dads Appreciating DisabilitieS Australia (DADS Australia), a volunteer-run nonprofit organisation that supports men whose lives have been touched by disability or health. Through DonorTec, they received a comprehensive list of software, including MS Office for Mac and a Digital Imaging Suite.
According to DADS Australia, they are now able to prepare quality PowerPoint presentations, which has been helpful in sharing their stories more effectively and growing their membership from 4 dads to 175. They are also able to create and maintain their website, which provides a variety of useful information and support to their members.
"We currently have no funding whatsoever, we just can't afford the Microsoft software required to provide for our members. Having Microsoft donate their software through DonorTec means we can share information easily with our members and keep one another informed," says Graham Mayer, Executive Director of DADS.

If you (or someone you know) work in a similar nonprofit organisation and you wish to find out if you're eligible to access technology donations, check out our DonorTec programme (if you're based in Australia), or TechSoup New Zealand.
