What are you looking forward to most at CU11?
Meeting people from organisations doing amazing work with limited budgets.
What role does technology play in your everyday work?
I’d be lost without it, email and my mobile are my two best friends, mind you I can still switch off and go on holidays without suffering withdrawls!
What are some of your favourite tech resources (e.g. blogs, news sites, forums, discussion groups)?
I LOVE Google Alerts to keep me up to date on things relevant to my expertise – if you don’t know about Google Alerts, better come to my session!
What is one of the most pressing tech issues facing nonprofits?
How can you do and achieve what profit based business do with technology and marketing when your budget is small to non-existent.
What is one area that you believe technology can help nonprofits work significantly better?
That’s a tough one. There are so many tools you can utilise to market, share information, fund raise etc, it’s hard to isolate to one area. Now more than ever Non Profits have the opportunity to utilise low to NO COST tools to liaise with staff, vendors and clients and prospects – Low to No Cost is a definite YES in any Non Profit’s budget. Strategies such as email marketing, using video and tools such as social media, allow engagement with the community and build awareness much easier than ever before.
If there’s one thing you would like people to take away from your session, what would it be?
Don’t think that what is going on with technology in the world doesn’t matter to your organisation. It does. Choosing to engage or not engage could mean the difference between long term viability of your organisation and extinction!
