At Connecting Up 2011, we ran a session on NetSquared Local communities in Australia. Currently you can find them in Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Canberra. Fortunately, for those of you who don't have a local group in your area, NetSquared have launched their Virtual NetSquared Local community.

Are you interested in innovation and social change?

At Connecting Up 2011, we ran a session on NetSquared Local communities in Australia. Currently you can find them in Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Canberra. Fortunately, for those of you who don't have a local group in your area, NetSquared have launched their Virtual NetSquared Local community.

NetSquared Local events provide an opportunity for people around the world to share information and ideas about using technology for social good. Increasingly, these groups have been sharing their events around the globe via streaming of audio and/or video. In seeing how successful these events have been, we’ve created a meetup page to make it easier for you to know about and attend these virtual events.

Introducing Virtual NetSquared Local
Virtual NetSquared Local is the place to go to attend NetSquared Local events online - via livestream or video recording. The conversations that happen at these events can be of value not just locally and in-person, but globally and online as well! With this in mind, we invite NetSquared Local groups to post their event media online to share with a wider global audience. All events are free of cost and open to anyone with an internet connection.

We hope that these events will help bring information and connections for people who are interested in using technology for social good, but don’t have a NetSquared Local group in their local area.

Get involved
To learn more about Virtual NetSquared Local events and to sign up simply go to meetup.com/VirtualNet2 and join the group. You will then receive an email every time a new event has been posted. The hashtag for sharing ideas and connecting with other participants is #VirtualNet2.

What do you think?
We’re still experimenting with Virtual NetSquared Local to make it as accessible to you as as possible. What do you think of us using the meetup platform in this unconventional way? How can we improve this program to fit your needs? Share your answers and questions via the #virtualNet2 hashtag or via email at Net2@techsoup.org.
