Mo Bros at Connecting Up: Supporting Men's Health Through Movember

It has been over 20 days since Movember started and the boys from Connecting Up are now beginning to look like quite a line-up with their mos. Thankfully, the rest of us in the office are enduring the new "scruffy looks" of our collagues for a good cause.

Mo Bros at Connecting UpWhen asked why they decided to raise funds for Movember, Ryan Jones (Connecting Up's Team Captain for this valiant effort) said: "Having known friends and family members who have been affected by prostate cancer and depression, I thought Movember was a good and fun way to support the cause. Doing this together with a team makes this even more interesting!"

The idea behind Movember is to get men to start 'clean shaven' at the beginning of November. And, they have to grow their moustaches for the rest of the month while soliciting donations for the cause. Particularly, for Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and beyondblue.

Since starting in Melbourne, Australia in 2003, Movember has become a global movement that has raised about $178 million dollars in total so far. It will be interesting to know how much the movement will raise for 2011.

The Connecting Up Team consists of:

  • Ryan Jones - Our Marketing Graduate and the basis of the popular "Ask Ryan" series in our DonorTec newsletter;
  • Manly Lai - Our brand new web and IT support guy who should be commended for joining in this effort, even though he has barely started working with us;
  • Simon Gee - Our Chief Operating Officer, who also happens to do voiceovers for Donny the Wombat (our special mascot);
  • Pankaj Chhalotre - Our Technology Manager and in-house superhero for "all things techie";
  • Ben Teoh - Our Online Content Graduate and one of the prominent voices behind our blog, web content, and social media platforms;
  • Josh Goodwin -  DonorTec Operations Manager and voted by friends and family as having "the scariest mo ever".

To support one or more of the Mo Bros from Connecting Up, just click on the name's link and that will take you to their individual Mo Spaces.

Alternatively, you may also donate to the whole team by visiting the Connecting Up Mo Space. The boys already received some generous support from the community and they're hoping to raise more funds to support Movember.

How about you? Did you or your organisation sign up for Movember too? How're the mos looking?
