TechSoup Asia launches in Singapore

Connecting Up is proud to be part of an exciting new venture bringing technology donations and information to countries in the Asia-Pacific region, called TechSoup.asia.

With the TechSoup Global (TSG) network already involving 35 countries, it is not always practical to have a partner in every country, so this joint venture creates a ‘virtual partner’ to serve the needs of a broad range of countries. TechSoup.asia’s establishment has been supported by Microsoft and our launch donors are Microsoft, Symantec and SAP, with many more to come.

This venture brings together the combined talents of TSG, the Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS) and of course Connecting Up. Mike Yeaton and Daniel Ben-Horin from TSG, Pok Fook Sun and Canny Chan from HKCSS, and I attended the Singapore National Council of Social Service annual conference on September 7 to officially launch TechSoup.asia, with Singapore as the first country involved. We were given a warm and very hospitable reception everywhere we went, including the inaugural NetSquared Singapore meet-up. This new program is the work of a lot of people but special thanks to Simon Gee, Pankaj Chhalotre and Josh Goodwin from the Connecting Up team. We are looking forward to being part of launching the TechSoup.asia program in Malaysia in December and in four other countries in the region during 2012.
