Since calling Australia home 3 years ago, I've always been intrigued by the active roles non profits play in our community. Their drive, passion and objectives to deliver their ongoing goals for their respective custodians is clearly commendable. Thus, it was only appropriate for me to volunteer with Connecting Up Australia and learn more about this industry.
Based in Adelaide, Connecting Up Australia works with a large number of non profits across Australia and play a vital role in providing information, resources, products and programs to the non profits sector. Some of these include Donor Tech, Tech Soup New Zealand, Match IT and SA community.
Seated in the communications department, I work with a highly passionate team who enjoy working for the non profits and bring much energy and creativity to their work.
Why am I volunteering in the non profit sector? I am passionate about the industry and enjoy championing for injustice, poverty, child trafficking, health and animal welfare causes. I want to make a difference in my community and to my fellow neighbour. Non profits goals and mission needs to be heard; loudly and boldly, in our community.
What do I intend to achive from my volunteering position? I want to make an impact and create positive changes where I can. To adopt my knowledge and skills acquired from Connecting Up to my future employment in the non profit sector.
Gandhi onced said, "We must be the change we wish to see".
Hence I love doing what I love. To lose myself in the service of others.
