Supporter relations and fundraising
How Going on Online Can Improve Your Fundraising
In the current challenging economic climate, non-profit orgnaisations cannot afford to sustain the high cost of raising funds, which typically require management's precious time. What many don't realise is that it is relatively simple and easy to start accepting donations online - even in as little as 45 minutes. With more than 100 000 nonprofit organisations globally using PayPal to raise money online, this session will explore how non-profits can lower the cost of acquiring donors and even boost their average donation value by moving online. You will also hear local and international case studies about non-profits that have boosted their fundraising efforts via online donations.
Dinuke Ranasinghe joined PayPal Australia in October 2004 as the Director of Product & Innovation, and moved into his current role as Managing Director in March 2009.
In his previous role, Dinuke was responsible for product development and business growth strategy. He joined PayPal in 2004 to launch PayPal locally, and subsequently launched numerous product initiatives that include more recently, PayPal Mobile.
Dinuke was formerly the Head of eCommerce (Australia & New Zealand) for Visa International, where he launched Verified by Visa, mobile payments programs, and Chip/EMV card products. He has also previously consulted on eCommerce strategy to leading blue chip organisations such as Telstra, Coca Cola Amatil, and Shell Australia.
DonorTec Launching Net2Tuesday in Australia
This session is the inaugural meeting of Net2Tuesday in Australia. The session will focus on talking to each other about how we can sustain these events and what we would like to get out of them. So if you have:
- a passion for discussing and facilitating the use of the social web for social change
- have a computer, Internet access and computer skills
- like people
....then you should come and find out more.

Peer to Peer Online Fundraising - A revolution in giving
In 2009, thousands of individuals will raise millions of dollars online for charities around Australia. Will your cause be one of them?
Everyday Hero manages the online fundraising campaigns for some of the largest public events across Australia as well as hundreds of smaller charity campaigns. In the past 18 months over 220 000 donors and fundraisers in Australia, Singapore, New Zealand and Hong Kong have raised in excess of $10m for charity through Everday Hero. Paul will begin this session looking at online fundraising trends, issues and opportunities from an international perspective. Paul will provide case studies on larger public fundraising opportunities such as the The Sun-Herald City2Surf and will also profile a number of smaller charity events.
This is an opportunity to discover how to maximise fundraising revenue online, no matter what the size or nature of your cause. Paul will provide a planning and implementation advice and will illustrate how any cause can raise hundreds of thousands of dollars online.
