The workshop provides an insight into how a program used wikis to engage young people who had become disengaged with school. It includes the good, the bad and the fantastic of:
- Engaging stakeholders
- Designing the brief
- Building the wiki.
Presenters:
Noelene Gration, Communications Manager, Doxa Youth Foundation
Noelene has worked in Public Relations and Communications for 20 years, almost always in the not-for-profit sector. She is committed to finding the best ways to communicate information to stakeholders which means that these days she often feels like she is on a steep learning curve to keep up with and be able to analyse new media’s… and then convince others that it is worth a try and really might work!
Trish Dower, Social Media Consultant and Primary School Teacher
Trish is a primary school teacher with a passion for and commitment to providing learning opportunities for all children. She recognises the need to embrace 21st Century technologies as a valuable tool for teaching and learning and demonstrates her commitment to this in her teaching practice. She has been involved in a number of departmental research projects involving social media. Trish is an ICT leader in her school and regularly shares her knowledge and skills with teachers from within her own school, region and interstate. Doxa contracted Trish to design and implement the Wiki project because of her great interest in teaching, engaging students and her interest in and skill with a wide range of technologies including wiki’s.
