Session: Community History 2.0: museums and communities exploring new frontiers online
Learn about finding innovative ways to help volunteer communities make use of new web tools and shifting the perception that Web 2.0 is just for Generation Y. This presentation will discuss three South Australian examples of community history organisations using new web technologies to change perceptions of the usefulness of Web 2.0 tools in a small community and challenge assumptions about the people who might benefit from using them.
Speaker Bio: Darren Peacock, (Sweet Technology) is a consultant, researcher and teacher in digital information management and design. He is the Director of Sweet Technology Pty Ltd, an independent informatics consultancy based in Adelaide. Darren has worked and consulted within museums in Australia, Europe and North America. He was formerly Director of Information and Communications Technology at the National Museum of Australia.
