Session: VI family network: an online support facility for families living with vision impairment
The fear and challenge of creating an accessible web resource for families living with vision impairment is small compared to the challenges faced by these families every day. The VI family network has been created by the Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children to provide an online parent forum and social networking website to enable parents and carers of children living with vision impairment to interact and support one another in a secure online environment.
Speaker Bio: Dr Teresa Williamson is the Curriculum Media Designer for the RIDBC Renwick Centre for research and professional development. Teresa manages the design and development of multi-media resources to support Renwick Centre teaching and research programs. She works closely with her colleague and web developer Cathy Yu in the creation of online social networking websites, most recently the Renwick Hub, a networking website for professionals working in special education and sensory impairment, and the vi family network, bringing families living with vision impairment together online.
