Session: Realising the benefits of the digital economy for all Australians

This presentation will cover:

  • How not-for-profits can position themselves now to help realise the benefits of the National Broadband Network (NBN) for communities in the future;
  • The ways in which the Australian Government is progressing Government 2.0 – with a focus on how to better meet the needs of citizens and the not-for-profit sector; and
  • Government programs and services that not-for-profits and individuals can access to help them participate in the digital economy.

This session will be presented by Mia Garlick and Reid Elliott.

Speaker Bio: Mia Garlick is the Assistant Secretary for the Digital Economy branch at the Department of Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy. Her role involves the provision of high level policy advice to the Minister, Secretary and senior executive on a range of issues relating to the long-term direction of the Digital Economy. In 2009, Mia was a member of the Government 2.0 Taskforce.
