Session: Realising the benefits of the digital economy for all Australians
This presentation will cover:
- How not-for-profits can position themselves now to help realise the benefits of the National Broadband Network (NBN) for communities in the future;
- The ways in which the Australian Government is progressing Government 2.0 – with a focus on how to better meet the needs of citizens and the not-for-profit sector; and
- Government programs and services that not-for-profits and individuals can access to help them participate in the digital economy.
This session will be presented by Mia Garlick and Reid Elliott
Speaker Bio: Reid is Assistant Director in the Digital Economy section at the Department of Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy. His role involves providing policy advice about ways to maximise the economic, social and environmental benefits of the internet. Reid is part of the team working on the www.digitalbusiness.gov.au website, which aims to help not-for-profit organisations and small to medium businesses establish or enhance their online presence. Prior to this Reid worked at the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, including working on the Blueprint for the Reform of Australian Government Administration.
