Overview of the Videoblogging workshop facilitated by Jay Dedman and Ryanne Hodson on Wednesday 13 May

Jay and Ryanne are video activists who started out in television. Five years ago they started to work with nonprofits and activists to look at how the use of video/film, can be used to communicate stories for change. At their workshop they aim to share their knowledge and expertise about the power of video to show how easy it is to construct and publish your own video. Keynote presentation - Allen (Gunner) Gunn, Executive Director of Aspiration
The convening methodology that Gunner uses in his keynote can be found at the Aspiration wiki facilitation.aspirationtech.org. The wiki describes details, considerations, and logistics for organizing and facilitating “Aspiration Style” events. Aspiration run workshops worldwide.
Gunner posed two controversial questions to delegates at the conference and they were then asked to place themselves on a continuum in relation to these questions. The audio provides access to the conversations that took place in this process.
The two questions were:
- Nonprofits who fail to fully embrace social media like twitter, facebook etc will cease to be relevant
- Between sharing on social networks, data mining by corporations and governments - privacy is a thing of the past.
