Introduce yourself!

Thank you for being a part of CU11 as a delegate, speaker, or partner.

As part of this year's conference, we'd love for us to have another avenue to continue the conversations through this online group.

So, please introduce yourself right here. And, feel free to start new discussions.

If you're not sure how to introduce yourself, here are some prompts:

  • Tell us your name
  • Which organisation and state are you from?
  • What do you do?
  • Are you a CU11 speaker/delegate/partner?
  • Have you been to any previous Connecting Up conferences?
  • What are you looking forward to the most as a CU11 participant?
  • What are you hoping to get out of this conference?

Comments: in your words

Tell us your name: Ben

Tell us your name: Ben Teoh Which organisation and state are you from? Connecting Up Australia, SA What do you do? I'm the Graduate project officer for online content. That means you'll find me on the blog, Facebook, Twitter and hanging around here in the groups on the Connecting Up website. Are you a CU11 speaker/delegate/partner? I'm a first timer, and will be running around doing a few different things at the conference. I'm looking forward to blogging and tweeting about the sessions I can get to. Have you been to any previous Connecting Up conferences? Nope, I'm a newbie! Can't wait for it. What are you looking forward to the most as a CU11 participant? I really want to meet people from nonprofits in Australia and hear what they're up to. There are a lot of people out there doing amazing things. What are you hoping to get out of this conference? A fresh understanding of the challenges that nonprofits face in Australia - and how I can help them!

Urgently Seeking Your Wisdom ;o)

Urgently Seeking Your Wisdom ;o) Hi CUers, What a fantastic conference with plenty of great ideas and switched on people! We would love some suggestions on: *ways to improve the mobilisation and connectivity for our offsite staff. *Also keen to hear of cost effective and simple methods to enable clients to participate in group sessions whilst remote, blog from within withdrawal residences - with security and privacy issues a high priority, and eventually provide remote video access to enable online assessment. *How to bone up on sharepoint 2010 quickly and cheaply to provide training for staff and better manage our intranet. *Tips on Plesk and CentOS VPS. Say hello if you see me about, also at the workshop tomorrow. @morelandhall Soates@morelandhall.org www.morelandhall.org www.bluebelly.org.au www.cautiouswithcannabis.com.au Many thanks, Scott Oates

Hello from Pauline

Hi Everyone, My name is Pauline Wilson and I attended the Connecting Up Conference and can certainly see the value in creating an online Commununity of Practice in the space where we can stay connected and maintain the momentum created by the conference. I work at YNH Services in Yarrawonga Victoria, which is a Registered Training Organisation and Neighbourhood House. My role is Training Coordinator so I look after all our courses and the tutors that run those courses. I am very keen to use technology to enhance the experiences of our students and tutors. We conduct some of our courses online and with blended delivery. This was my first Connecting Up Conference and I enjoyed it and have taken away lots of resources to explore

That's such great feedback to

That's such great feedback to share with us, Pauline! Thanks so much.

Are you in contact with other similar professionals in your field (ie, Training in the NP sector?). I'm curious to know if there's a way we can help to keep you in touch with others who might be able to support a Community of Practice in your field of work.

In any case, if you have any questions or other suggestions/ideas, please feel free to share them. It will be great if we can all continue to learn from each other even past the conference.

What a great conference!

What a great conference! Thanks to all involved! I work at Curtin University of Technology in Perth, WA, where I'm co-organising a new research group investigating ways to better support NfP organisations through ICT and its management and use. We're only just getting started and figuring out how we want to approach it, but think that NfPs are very important yet terribly under-resourced, so want to find better ways to assist them. I've posted an idea for comment on the general CU group that I won't duplicate here except to say that it's about creating a Uni-NfP Support Partnership. Looking forward to meeting more of you, keeping in touch, and finding good ways to collaborate. Cheers, John

Thanks again, John! We'll definitely keep in touch with you regarding your research. We look forward to seeing how it would evolve and if there's any way we can be involved.

For those of you who might be interested in finding out a bit more, John posted a brief info on his research in this post - http://www.connectingup.org/discussion/introductions-community
