The purpose of Philanthropy Week is to raise awareness of philanthropy itself, honour those who make an outstanding contribution to the community and advance support for the state's charities and community service organisations through sustainable giving.

During the week the Queensland Community Foundation holds an awards luncheon to recognise significant philanthropic achievements.
