From October 1 this year, nonprofit and charity organisations around Australia will have a brand new commission.
Named the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC), this independent regulator will oversee legislation and act as an important point of reference for the sector.
The creation of the ACNC was announced in the 2011-12 federal budget on May 11 and a taskforce was created soon after in July.
Now, nearly one year on, the countdown is on until the ACNC open its doors for operation - causing many Australian charities to have burgeoning questions about how this new regulator will change things within the sector.
Aware of the multiple queries organisations have, the ACNC taskforce has released a series of fact sheets intended to provide clarity surrounding its operations.
Available on its website, there are six new fact sheets available that focus on the ACNC regulatory approach, registering entities, reporting framework, using the ACNC online, guidance and education and engaging with stakeholders.
Within each of these fact sheets charity organisations can find lists, information and even interactive diagrams.
The ACNC website also has a section for FAQs and in addition has published certain reports, including the ACNC Taskforce Implementation Report.
