Net Tuesday comes to Sydney

Net Tuesday ImageThe Inaugural meetup of the Sydney NetSquared Group is Tuesday 7 July at 6.30pm. The meeting will be held at The Gaelic Club, 64 Devonshire Street Surry Hills NSW – go to the third floor and look out for the laptops.

There are thirty seven Net Tuesday groups globally, providing a chance for those interested in the intersection of social technologies and social change, whether they're part of a nonprofit organization or a for-profit organization, a funder or a consultant, a developer or an entrepreneur to get together to mix, swap stories and ideas, build new relationships, and collaborate.

The focus of the inaugural Sydney Net Tuesday meetup will be to discuss:

  • topics that would make good presentations
  • speakers you might like to hear from
  • how you want the group to run.

# New dogs of the block a story about Assistance Dogs Australia and how they are helping to enhance the quality of life and improve the level of independence for people with physical disabilities.

# Connecting the blind to the world and how software donation from DonorTec has enabled them to upgrade their technology training rooms and library to bring them into line with current industry standards.

# Independent Living Centres of Tasmania have been able to have been able to employ an occupational therapist for a short-term project that can be worked on from home because they were able to obtain Microsoft terminal server software.
