ASIX brings you the Social Innovation Camp –Mar 2010 and Ideas “Meetups” around Australia

Have you got some great ideas for using the web to change the world (or your part of it)?

The Australian Social Innovation Exchange (ASIX) is running a Social Innovation Camp in March 2010 and right now they are looking for ideas to workshop at the Camp. To help generate ideas for using the internet to help improve the world or specific communities, SI Camp is also holding a series of ‘meetups’ in various locations around Australia.  Details of the 'meetup' program are listed on their website www.sicampaustralia.org and interested people can register to participate. The Adelaide 'meetup' will be held at Connecting Up's offices at Level 8, 108 King William St, Adelaide from 5pm to 7pm, Thursday 19 November. To register go to http://asix.org.au/event/adelaide-ideas-generation-meetup . We are an official supporter of SI Camp, so hope to see you there.

Improve your fundraising online and you could win an iPodTouch

Improve your fundraising by going online

Non-profits are increasingly looking for more effective and efficient ways to raise funds, particularly in the current economic climate. Sending direct mail to elicit donations is no longer very effective, as 65% of Australians don’t respond to this method at all1. Research also shows that it costs charities 10 times more to acquire donors using offline versus online methods2.

As a result, non-profits are turning to the web to accept donations, with global online giving surpassing US $20 billion3. Experience shows that moving online can help non-profits lower the cost of acquiring new donors, double the average donation value, attract a younger donor base, and streamline the payment administration process.

PayPal is an online payment service that enables non-profits to receive donations and payments online easily and safely. More than 100,000 non-profit organisations around the globe, including Connecting Up Australia, rely on PayPal to process funds. In 2008 alone, PayPal helped non-profits raise more than US $850 million in online donations.

As PayPal is Australia’s preferred way to pay online4 with more than 5 million accounts in Australia and 193 million accounts worldwide, non-profits can also tap into a broad donor base.

It’s easy for a non-profit to start accepting online donations with PayPal. Connecting Up is giving the chance for two organisations from the first 20 that sign up for a PayPal account through the Connecting Up referral process to win an iPod Touch.
