Connecting Up CEO Anne Gawen speaking at the launch of The Festival of Good Humans.
The Festival of Good Humans, by Connecting Up, in partnership with Community Sector Banking, will be a key part of this year's Open State festival.
At a time when technology is increasingly prevalent, the festival will help South Australians bring the human touch to their technology use through a masterclass in digital storytelling, virtual 'Impact Bootcamp', street party, and the chance to hone their business pitches in front of an expert panel at an innovative 'Good Pitch' event.
Connecting Up Chief Executive Anne Gawen says the Festival of Good Humans is a way of helping South Australians, including hundreds of not-for-profit organisations, achieve the greatest social impact possible through technology.
"Through our Donations and Discounts programs, Connecting Up already provides a lifeline for tens of thousands of Australian not-for-profit organisations who might not otherwise be able to access digital technology," says Ms Gawen.
"Connecting Up's Festival of Good Humans takes that critical support to the next level by showing all South Australians how to also get the best results from technology by making sure they retain that all-important humans touch when using it."
"As a not-for-profit with a longstanding mission to help other not-for-profits, we are incredibly excited to be able to bring them something new that will help them continue to have life-changing impact on the communities they serve.
The launch event - which included a Virtual Reality demonstration - was attended by City of Adelaide Deputy Lord Mayor Sandy Verschoor, Community Sector Banking Head of Business Scott Elkington, Don Dunstan Foundation Executive Director David Pearson, The Australian Centre for Social Innovation's CEO Carolyn Curtis, Flinders University New Venture Institute (NVI) Director Matt Salier, and Connecting Up Chair Sue Vardon AO.
It included a panel session, facilitated by the New Venture Institute (NVI) at Flinders University, with Q&A, that delved into how each of the attending organisations was using technology for social good, and how that use might evolve in the future.
Flinders University New Venture Institute (NVI) Director Matt Salier says his organisation, with its own sterling track record of innovation in technology, was looking forward to working with Connecting Up - particularly in the delivery of a special series of webinars.
