Next week is National Volunteer Week and Connecting Up will be taking the opportunity to celebrate our amazing volunteers, who make so much of what we do possible.
Connecting Up volunteers are the backbone of SAcommunity, which provides South Australia with a free online directory of thousands of South Australian community services providers.
The theme for National Volunteer Week 2021 is Recognise. Reconnect. Reimagine. which acknowledges that it is time to:
RECOGNISE - celebrate and thank volunteers for the vital role they play in our lives.
RECONNECT - to what is important by giving our time to help others and ourselves.
REIMAGINE - how we better support volunteers and the communities they help.
2020 delivered unprecedented challenges for all of us around the world. The COVID-19 Pandemic changed how our volunteers communicated, collaborated, and ensured that the SAcommunity services directory was up-to-date and readily available for those needing to access social and support services within South Australia.
The team did a fantastic job through this challenging period. They moved to remote work with an open mind and were determined to continue supporting those that relied on the SAcommunity platform more than ever.
We are lucky enough to have our volunteers back in the office in South Australia for now, and we couldn’t be happier. They make a positive contribution to the culture within our office, bringing humour, friendliness, and experiences from all over the world to our work environment.
To celebrate National Volunteer Week, we will be recognising some of our amazing volunteers and thanking them for the work they do.
We will also be reconnecting for a volunteer’s lunch and some fun in the sun to reconnect after 12-months of remote work and online collaboration.
Our staff will be attending a 1-hour workshop to reimagine how we support our volunteers in the office and ensure they have the knowledge, resources, and enthusiasm to support the communities they help.
Our Volunteer Week celebrations would not be complete if we didn’t shout out our amazing Volunteer Coordinator, Catherine McIntyre, who leads our volunteer team and provides the support and knowledge to power SAcommunity.
Please tune in next week to celebrate National Volunteering Week with us. If you would like to get involved, wave your appreciation for volunteers around the world and upload your image to social media with the tag #waveforvolunteers.
Make sure your following Connecting Up across social media to stay up to date with Volunteer Week and everything else happening at Connecting Up HQ.
