Next week is National Volunteer Week, and Connecting Up will be taking the opportunity it presents to celebrate our amazing volunteers, who make so much of what we do possible.
Connecting Up volunteers are the backbone of SAcommunity, which provides South Australia with detailed and accurate information about thousands of services in our state.
They also make a huge contribution to the culture within our office, bringing humour, friendliness and experiences from all over the world to our work environment.
To mark National Volunteer week ,Connecting Up will be profiling some of our amazing volunteering team to recognise them and thank them for the work they do.
Connecting Up will also be celebrating some of the work our staff does, including mentoring, which helps us to build important relationships and assist our volunteers – many of whom are jobseekers, students or new graduates, near or newly retired and new migrants – succeed.
We’ll be introducing outstanding individuals such as Sophie and Erin, who have been volunteering at Connecting Up for more than two and a half years, making a massive contribution to SACommunity.
We’ll also be meeting Stathis, Sam A, Malcolm and Cheryl, who between them have given hundreds of hours of their time to support Connecting Up over the years, and new volunteers Sam W and Audrey joining as key article writers for SAcommunity, we will hear from Audrey who is thrilled to be a Volunteer Information Officer with Connecting Up.
Our Volunteer Week celebrations wouldn't be complete without mentioning Edward, David, Alexander and Niru, who make a huge contribution to our work, and saying a special thank you to everyone who has contributed over the years, because we have had so many briliant volunteers.
On top of all of that, we’ll be celebrating and thanking our partners in South Australia, who make an immense contribution to the opportunities available to our volunteers by working with us to match them with enjoyable, productive and career enhancing opportunities.
Those partners will include City of Prospect and City of Tea Tree Gully who worked with Connecting Up on joint volunteer partnership programs to maintain their local community service information with four SAcommunity volunteers Stathis, Rex, Flavia and Sam A on board.
So, please tune in next week to celebrate National Volunteering Week with us, and in the meantime, follow the link to find out more about our SAcommunity service and volunteering at Connecting Up.
