Skype for Business Server

Skype for Business Server  is a real-time communications server. It supports instant messaging (IM), presence information, web conferencing, and telephony, all through an office's existing communications infrastructure. Skype for Business Server's client applications are Skype for Business and several others with which it is backward compatible.

 

Skype for Business Server Device Client Access Licences (CALs)

Device CALs allow one computer to access the capabilities of Skype for Business Server, regardless of the number of users. This is particularly useful on a shared computer. Each user or device that accesses the IM, presence, or PC-to-PC audio and video communications capabilities of Skype for Business Server must have a client access licence (CAL).

Skype for Business Server Enterprise Device CAL can be used only in conjunction with a Skype for Business Server Standard device CAL. It authorizes one computer or other device to access additional features in Skype for Business Server, regardless of the number of users (for example, on a shared workstation).

Skype for Business Server Plus Device CAL can be used only in conjunction with a Skype for Business Server Standard device CAL. It authorizes one computer or other device to access enterprise telephony features in Skype for Business Server, regardless of the number of users (for example, on a shared workstation).

Skype for Business Server Standard Device CAL authorizes one computer or other device to access Skype for Business Server regardless of the number of users (for example, on a shared workstation).

SKype for Business Server Device CAL Suite includes all three Skype for Business Server Device CALs, enabling all features in Skype for Business.

 

User Client Access Licences (CALs)

Skype for Business Server Enterprise User CAL can be used only in conjunction with a Skype for Business Server Standard user CAL. It authorizes one user to access additional features in Skype for Business Server on any number of computers or other devices.

Skype for Business Server Plus User CAL can be used only in conjunction with a SKype for Business Server Standard user CAL. It authorizes one user to access enterprise telephony features in Skype for Business Server on any number of computers or other devices.

Skype for  Server Standard User CAL authorizes one user to access Skype for Business Server from any device. For example, an employee might access the server from a computer at work and another at home.

Skype for Business Server User CAL Suite includes all three Skype for Business Server User CALs, enabling all features in Skype for Business.

Core User CAL Suite

Microsoft Core User CAL Suite is a set of four user client access licences (CALs) and two user client management licences (MLs). Together they provide user licensing for key Microsoft server technologies.
