Certified Refurbished Microsoft Surface Dock 2
The Microsoft Surface Dock 2 (Model 1917) transforms your Surface device into a complete desktop workstation with four USB-C ports (10 Gbps), two USB-A ports, Gigabit Ethernet, and dual 4K display support at 60Hz. Released in 2020 as Microsoft's premium docking solution, this professionally restored unit delivers 199W total power—including 120W to your Surface device—which means you can charge even power-hungry Surface Laptop Studio models whilst running multiple peripherals simultaneously. During our testing with Surface Pro and Laptop devices, this dock handles demanding setups with external monitors, USB drives, wired networking, and audio devices without the cable clutter of individual adapters.
Ideal For
- Hybrid workers who need a single-cable desktop setup at home—connect your Surface, two monitors, keyboard, mouse, and Ethernet through one Surface Connect cable for instant desk transformation
- Business professionals running video conferences whilst multitasking across dual 4K screens with wired network reliability for bandwidth-intensive applications
- Creative users requiring colour-accurate dual-monitor workflows for photo editing, graphic design, or video production with fast 10 Gbps USB-C data transfer to external drives
- IT departments standardising hot-desking environments where employees dock different Surface devices throughout the workday
Key Features & Benefits
- Four USB-C ports (10 Gbps): Transfer 4K video files in seconds—10 Gbps moves a 20GB project folder in approximately 16 seconds versus 3+ minutes on older USB 3.0 docks
- Dual 4K @ 60Hz display support: Eliminates the flicker and lag of 30Hz displays common on budget docks, delivering smooth mouse movement and video playback across two ultra-HD screens
- 199W total power delivery: The 120W Surface Connect output charges Surface Laptop Studio at full speed whilst the remaining 60W powers USB peripherals, external drives, and phone charging simultaneously
- Gigabit Ethernet: Provides stable 1000 Mbps wired networking that's essential for large file uploads, remote desktop sessions, and eliminating Wi-Fi dropouts during video calls
- Front-facing USB-C ports (15W): Conveniently charge your smartphone or quickly connect USB-C drives without reaching behind your desk
- Single-cable connection: The integrated 80cm Surface Connect cable provides power, video, data, and networking through one connection—no driver installation required on compatible Surface devices
Common Questions
Can it handle dual monitors whilst charging my Surface Laptop?
Absolutely. Our technicians routinely test this configuration with Surface Laptop 4 and 5 models running dual 4K displays at 60Hz whilst charging at full 120W speed. The dock's 199W power supply provides ample headroom for simultaneous monitor output, USB device power, and laptop charging without performance throttling.
Will this work with my older Surface Pro 6?
Yes, though with display limitations. Surface Pro 6 supports dual 4K monitors at 30Hz refresh rate rather than 60Hz due to the device's internal graphics capabilities. All other dock functions—USB ports, Ethernet, charging, and audio—operate at full specification. Surface Pro 7 and newer models achieve full dual 4K @ 60Hz performance.
How does this compare to USB-C docks from other brands?
The Surface Connect port delivers superior power (120W versus 60-100W on generic USB-C docks) and bypasses USB bandwidth constraints that cause display stuttering on non-Microsoft docks. After testing hundreds of docking solutions since 2001, we find Surface Dock 2 eliminates the random disconnection issues common with third-party adapters on Surface devices.

Refurbished Computers - Cosmetic Grading Guide
Our supplier's refurbished hardware is typically graded either "Excellent" or "Good", however, some legacy products were graded under a letter grading system (A, B, C). Please find the definitions for each grade below and contact us if you're uncertain of a device's grade.
Used Smartphone / Refurbished Mobile Phones
"Excellent" Grade
Devices in this category appear like new, with very minor wear. Expect light or fine scratches on the screen that are shallow enough not to catch on a fingernail. The edge around the glass is virtually flawless, save for possible light scratching around the power port. The back plate may show light/fine scratches, including on the Apple logo, with any discoloration being minimal.
"Good" Grade
These devices are characterized by being fully tested and functional even if they have body scratches, minor paint chips, or a small hairline crack on the screen. Screens are free from dead pixels but may exhibit slight scratching from moderate use.
Refurbished Desktops, Laptops and Monitors
"Excellent" Grade - Laptops
Reserved for units that show barely any signs of previous use, these laptops may exhibit very minor scuffing or abrasions, associated only with minimal standard use. The keyboards show light wear, and importantly, the screens are pristine, free from any scratches, cracks, chips, dead pixels, dark spots, discoloration, or blemishes.
"Excellent" Grade - Desktops
Desktop PCs in the "Excellent" grade category are free from deep scratches, cracks, paint chips, or any broken/missing pieces, ensuring a sleek and almost-new aesthetic.
"Excellent" Grade - Monitors
"Excellent" grade is reserved for units that show evidence of very little to no previous use. Any wear on an "Excellent" Display, including housing/frame and/or external surfaces (i.e. Frame) is associated with standard minimal use. "Excellent" units may have minor scuffing and / or minor abrasions on plastics with from standard light previous use."Excellent" Displays will feature no scratches, cracks, chips, dead pixels, dark spots, discoloration or blemishes. Units will only feature the standard minimal wear and tear that is associated with a used unit.
"Good" Grade - Laptops
"Good" laptops may feature one or several small dings or dents on covers and / or small paint chips on the surface or small hairline cracks in the bezel. Laptop screens may feature uneven light diffusion in screen and may feature subtle blemishes. "Good" Laptops will not feature cracks screens but may feature slight scratching, dead pixels or white spots on the screen.
"Good" Grade - Desktops
"Good" grade desktops may have light scratches on external body and may feature more excessive unit housing and/or external case wear than "Excellent" units, including wear on case / lid. "Good" PCs may feature one or several small dings or dents on covers and / or small paint chips on the surface.
"Good" Grade - Monitors
Displays in the "Good" grade have been fully tested and are functional but may include scratches on body, small paint chips, minor cracks on body, loose and/or wobbly bases. "Good" Display screens may feature uneven light diffusion in screen and may feature subtle to moderate blemishes. "Good" Displays will not feature cracks on screens but may feature slight scratching on screen surfaces from moderate use or wear, dead pixels or white spots on the screen.
