The 3Com Wireless LAN Controller WX2200 with 3Com Wireless Switch Manager software centrally manages and controls 3Com wireless LAN Managed Access Points (MAPs) for those networks demanding complex deployments, or with multiple offices or highly secure LAN requirements. The WX2200 wireless controller, initially configured to support 24 MAPs, is expandable in increments of 24 MAPs to support up to a total of 120 MAPs for "pay as-you-grow" flexibility. WX4400 and WX2200 wireless controllers, WX1200 switches, and WXR100 remote office wireless switches can be mixed and matched together within a Mobility Domain to manage and control thousands of MAPs for unparalleled scalability.

The 4-port (NM-4A/S) and 8-port (NM-8A/S) asynchronous/synchronous (async/sync) network modules provide async connectivity with speeds up to 115.2 kbps, and sync connectivity with speeds up to 128 kbps. These modules use the 60-pin "5-in-1" cables, similar to those used on the Cisco 2500 and Cisco 7000 series routers.

The 6-slot Cisco Catalyst 6506-E Switch provides intermediate port densities, ideal for many wiring closet and core network deployments with exceptional functionality and flexibility. Any two Cisco Catalyst 6500E series Switches with Supervisor Engine 720-3C/720-3CXL/S2T-10G/S2T-10G-XL can be pooled together into a VSS.
