Starting in November, you will notice that we have increased administrative (admin) fees for selected discount and donation programs at Connecting Up. We periodically review and adjust admin fees to reflect the fair market value of products and our own costs in managing these programs. As a not-for-profit ourselves, we include admin fees in our offers in order to support the value that we can continually bring to all not-for-profits. This helps us provide as many resources as possible to organisations like yours, everywhere. We will continually strive to make sure that these offers will still be made at the lowest cost available to you and will remain at a fraction of their retail value. In most cases, the increase in the admin fee will be no more than a few dollars per transaction. Certain products from the following programs will be affected by these changes:Posted on 05/11/2019 by

The range of reactions from the managers range from eye rolling, huffing and puffing, outward groans, through to disbelief that another year has passed by so quickly. This is then followed by furtive glances into work diaries wondering how they are supposed to fit in one hour one-to-one conversations with all their direct reports, not to mention the preparation time required and dreading that one conversation with their ‘problem employee’. After some time in deliberation, the Privacy Amendment (Notifiable Data Breaches) Bill 2016 became law on 23rd February 2018. The amendment established a mandatory data breach notification scheme in Australia. What is Mandatory Data Breach Notification? It's a scheme that requires all entities subject to the Privacy Act to notify the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) and individuals who may be affected in the event of a data breach. The intention is to ensure that people have the opportunity to take steps to protect their personal information if a breach occurs. Put simply, if someone gains unauthorised access to your data, and your data contains personal or sensitive information, you are required to notify both the OAIC and the people whose information is stored in your system.Posted on 14/03/2018 by -

As National Volunteer Week gets under way, Connecting Up is thinking of the first 15,000 reasons why we’re grateful for our amazing volunteers. The number 15,000 is significant because that is the huge number of vital community service listings that wouldn’t be available and up to date for the South Australian Community without our team. Every day at Connecting Up we are privileged to have volunteers dedicate their time to searching through listings, contacting organisations for the most up-to-date information and adding it to our directory so that the broader community can confidently access the services they need. But those 15,000 reasons are just the start of why we’re grateful to our volunteers, who come from all over the world, bringing humour, friendliness and culture to our working environment every day.Posted on 18/05/2020 by -
