We live in a world of information overload, where our attention is constantly being seized by promotions, sales pitches, and newsletters. Inboxes have been embedded with smart technology, filtering mass emails into folders called "promotions", and telephone recognition software is making it harder for conventional fundraising phone banks to get through.Posted on 25/08/2021 by -

Heart for Kids is a Sydney-based not-for-profit that has been helping children living in poverty for 20 years through child sponsorship and education programs. It has changed the lives of hundreds of children in China, Indonesia and India. But working across international borders as well as multiple locations in Sydney meant that collaborating and securely sharing files had become a real challenge for the organisation. Through Connecting Up’s donations and discounts program Heart for Kids was able to get heavily discounted access to Microsoft 365, a cloud-based platform that combines Office apps with additional tools like chat, video meetings and file storage. The team’s communication and efficiency has vastly improved since rolling out the new software, meaning they can now devote more time to their charitable work.Posted on 26/11/2020 by

One of the biggest challenges is understanding AI technology, where it can be used and how to use it. For nonprofits, it’s all well and good that the latest AI solutions can recognise objects from video, create artwork and predict traffic patterns, but understanding where to use it in their organisation is a far cry from a lot of what is happening in the market. AI is not remotely at a level where you can explain a problem to it and it will figure out the solution – the technology is still quite specific in its application and requires human intelligence to decide which specific model (or combination of models) to apply. In this webinar, we will address what AI is and suggestions on where AI can benefit nonprofits based on some of the common challenges nonprofits have today. What is not included in the program? Highly technical explanations of what AI is. Course Outcomes: By the end of this webinar your organisation will have: An overview of what AI is about Greater knowledge about the different types of problems AI can help you solve Tips on current opportunities and getting started with AI. Audience What is AI? And how can it help your nonprofit organisation? is suitable for: Mid-Large nonprofits considering how to benefit from AI IT, Digital Marketing or Management teams within Nonprofit Organisations About the Presenter: James Hornitzky I believe that we can create a better world through the way we live and work everyday, and that technology has a role to play in making things better, not worse. There are a range of non-profit and for-purpose organisations that strive to achieve this, and I am passionate and proud to work with many of these organisations to help them achieve their vision and impact on society. Whether the project is a website, web application, CRM/payment integration or ongoing digital support, we work with organisations to bring to life their voices of care through great online experiences to forge powerful connections with supporters and beneficiaries. How can organisations best keep track of all their online initiatives, the constituents they serve, and the interactions of their supporters? How can they nurture new contacts into stakeholders? How can organisations ensure that their time, money, and resources are being leveraged effectively? The answer, luckily, is fairly simple — by implementing a platform known as a customer relationship management system or CRM.Posted on 28/04/2022 by -

When Elizabeth Serpell’s son David had to undergo hand surgery at just ten months because of an unknown condition called ‘symbrachydactyly’, she was inspired to help people in similar situations find help more easily in the confusing, jargon-heavy world of hand differences. Back in 2000, she could never have imagined that a set of Google online tools available through the Google for Non-profits program would become one of her most powerful tools. Fast forward to 2017, and thanks to digital tools including Google Drive, Google Ad Grants and YouTube for Non-profits, Ms Serpell’s Aussie Hands Foundation is reaching out to more children and adults with hand differences than ever before.Posted on 18/09/2017 by -

The wave of hype surrounding big data and the information age has come and gone. Your organisation has started collecting data, perhaps lots of it. The problem you now face is how to make sense of that data and turn it into knowledge that can help you achieve your mission. What are the opportunities, the risks and the unseen patterns that could fundamentally change the way you work, and how effective that work is? Knowledge architecture is the key to using your data in a more connected way. It provides a framework for building systems that generate context for your data, allowing for better decision-making across your entire organisation. It reduces complexity, unlocks insight, shares experience and gives rise to innovation, in a way that supports your people to do better work. This will be a non-technical presentation, explaining the benefits that knowledge architecture can bring and offering practical ideas on how to get started Course Outcomes: The presentation will explore the following ideas: What is knowledge architecture and where did the idea originate? What are the benefits of implementing it? What are the costs associated with not implementing it? How does an organisation get started? What are some examples of implementation? Audience This webinar is suitable for any organisation looking to make better use of their data. The content is not specific to any product vendor, and no prior technical knowledge is required. Not available on this date and time? Register anyway! All webinar registrants will receive a full recording and the slides after the webinar has been presented. Terry Franklin I have been involved in building information management and knowledge systems for almost 15 years, both within the digital media company that I helped found and now as an independent consultant. I have a deep interest in systems that help better understand complex environments, especially those that can be applied to humanitarian and social justice causes.Recorded some time ago.Watch now -

All Australian organisations have a legal responsibility to ensure the safety of people in their care. By keeping a constant watch on employee or volunteer accreditation status, Oho is playing a key role in strengthening the protection of children and vulnerable people in Australian communities. Their platform was founded on the knowledge that there are stringent requirements on companies and workers who are responsible for the welfare of vulnerable people. Many organisations are not aware of the scope of obligations enshrined in Australian law and regulated by state and federal government agencies. To help you assess your organisation’s compliance, Oho have compiled a handy checklist of questions.Posted on 28/10/2021 by
